Today is day one of 365 days of opportunities! I have my word of the year. I know what I want for 2019 so now what?
Do you have yours? If you don’t, here is some information that will help you choose one.
For me, I have found it helpful to write goals or affirmations (I have three) that are based on or include my word of the year. The word I chose was Transform. My 2019 Word of the Year: Part 1
Transform has multiple definitions; however, the one I am focusing on is: To undergo a total change for the better.
Now that I am armed with my word and it’s definition I can write my goals (with a lot of detail) so that I can have my intentions set for 2019.
Part 1: I will transform my health and body.
One of my major focuses for 2019 is to focus on my health and transform my body. I have put on a few extra pounds over the years and have also lost some of my physical definition. Instead of waiting for 1 January, I started losing weight about five weeks ago. I am already down 10 pounds (woohoo!!) but still want to lose 20 more. Honestly, for me, it isn’t about the number on the scale (just picked a number so I could have a goal but will totally change it if I transform into what I want without hitting that target) but about how I feel in my own skin. I was having issues with heartburn, sleeping, feeling sluggish, etc. and for me, these were due to the excess weight. Also, let’s face it, I am creeping up on 50 (shh, don’t tell anyone, lol) and if I don’t do this now, it will only be more difficult in the future. My 2019 Word of the Year: Part 1
My point in sharing this is twofold. One is so you can see how I am using my Word of the Year to frame my goals for the year. Secondly, it also helps me to put what I want out into the Universe (yep I get a little woo-woo with this type stuff). If you pray, frame your goals or affirmations based on a prayer. The idea is for you to put something down that works for you, there truly is no “wrong” way. The focus here to write them down somewhere! If you are digital, keep it there. If you are a paper person, put in your planner or journal. The goal is to write them down somewhere you will see them daily. To me, these are more than a New’s Year Resolution and more of a focused goal or affirmation.
I intend to also make a digital Vision Board with pictures of what I want my body transformation to look like. You can start by creating a private Pinterest board (if you are a Pinterest person) for the things you want to focus on and put inspiration in there. Then you can use some of that to create your Vision Board. Some people make physical Vision Boards but I’m just not that crafty nor do I have a place that I could put it as it is personal and for me (yes my family knows, but they don’t need to see it every day). I make mine my screen saver on my phone, computer, and Ipad so I still see them daily. Again, no wrong way to do this, but it should be something you see daily.
Vision Boards are great for the visually inclined (that’s me). I need to SEE things and not just read them. Basically, I am covering all my bases, lol. But I definitely need to have a visual representation. My 2019 Word of the Year: Part 1
I will caveat that this is a choice that I made for me. By no means am advocating for anyone else to change their appearance based on societies norms because let’s be real – they are unrealistic. My husband has no issues with how I look. I am wanting to be stronger and truly feel better, that is my focus. I am choosing to transform the way I eat and to NOT diet. To choose not to eat a bunch of shit throughout the day that makes feel like shit. (DUH!!, lol)
So what’s your Word? Have you written any goals based on your word of the year? If so, I would love to hear your goals or affirmations. If you’re willing, post them below or if you don’t want to share them publically, you can message me here.
Stay tuned for My Word of the Year: Part 2!
