I absolutely LOVE the author, Jen Sincero! I have had such a mindset shift from her book You Are a Badass – it literally moved me to my CORE! Jen Sincero said, “All it takes is a shift in perception to create a new reality. Life is but a dream, don’t turn it into a nightmare.”
Your mindset or perception is the key to being happier! You have complete control over our perceptions and by knowing that and shifting them every so slightly to a more positive note, your total outlook (and happiness) will change. All it takes is a second to think a new thought. Instead of thinking I can’t accomplish my goal, think I can accomplish this task (that leads to your overall goal). Sometimes we give up before we even start because the big goal is daunting. However, when you break that big goal down into bite-sized chunks or tasks, it is a lot easier to believe you CAN do it!
I have struggled with this many times. It’s so easy to be negative when our companies do things we don’t like, it’s so easy to be negative about someone else’s success, it’s so easy to be negative when you surround yourself with like-minded negative people.
But what if you had a mindset shift….
What if you were Brave?
… and chose to find at least one positive change in your companies new policies? Maybe now it will be easier for more people to join the company. Maybe the company can offer better products and services which you were not aware of. What if these new changes end up launching your own business to the next level and you were too scared, negative, or selfish to see it?
… and chose to find one positive idea from another’s success. Maybe you need to look at a competitor’s success as proof that success is obtainable. Maybe you need to look at their success and find what you love and can make your own. What if you looked at their success and used it to motivate you to be the best business owner out there?
… and chose to surround yourself with positive minded people? I believe this one might be the most crucial! What if you surrounded yourself with people who held you accountable and lifted you up?
Oh, The Possibilities!
The possibilities would be endless! Being positive or seeking positive energy Does Not mean you drank the Koolaid – it means you choose to find light when there was darkness. It also Does Not mean that you agree with or even like what has happened – you are just choosing to not to let that negativity have power over you. This has been the hardest lesson I have ever learned. I could never get passed feeling wronged, entitled to have my say heard – like my opinion was relevant and jealous of others.
Then I had a mindset shift and realized that none of that really mattered. I can feel how I want to feel and that is OK, but I can’t get stuck in a negative mindset. I can tell you that once I shifted my mindset, I have become more productive at home and work. I am even a nicer parent and wife! I’m not always perfect and still occasionally go down the wrong path, but I catch it quicker and quicker every time and divert to a more positive path.
